The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in April 2010 required the "Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting" (RRP) certification for contractors performing renovation work in residential dwellings or child-occupied facilities built before 1978.
Any renovation work (including painting) done for compensation, which disturbs painted surfaces in residential dwellings or child-occupied facilities built before 1978. Renovator certifications are due for refresher training before expiration. You must submit your current certification for validation to take the refresher course.
The 4-hr in class refresher course makes you certification valid for 5 years from the date of the completed class.
